A significant seminar was held jointly with the Soviet Alumni Association of Bangladesh (SAAB) to mark this event. The main speakers, Dr. Sultan Salehuddin and Dr. Dibalok Singha discussed in detail about Yuri Gagarin’s childhood, professional life and his historic space flight, as well as the history of the Russian space program and its impact on global progress in this field.
The seminar was attended by about 120 members from various Soviet and Russian universities’ alumni, as well as other distinguished guests from local non-Government organizations.
The Russian House also arranged a photo exhibition entitled “The First Human Flight in Space” featuring Yuri Gagarin’s famous photographs and his historic achievements for humanity. At opening ceremony Mashhurul Amin, Chairman, Bangladesh Astronomical Association, said that The Bangabandhu Satellite-1 launched in 2018. The process of second satellite, Bangabandhu-2, has begun through signing a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with the Russian launch services and satellite company, Glavkosmos. Therefore, he expressed hope for Bangladesh’s space flight in 2025 with Russia’s active cooperation.
On this occasion, a drawing workshop on ‘Space’ was held in cooperation with Serve Academy of Fine Arts with the spontaneous participation of 60 students from different schools in Dhaka. Mr. Maxim Dobrokhotov, Head of the Russian House, distributed certificates among all the participants.
